Instructor
Update |
Finally!
Time to think about updating if you are a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor!
The official release date for the newly updated First Aid/CPR/AED for
the Workplace, Schools and the Community Program is March 31, 2006.
Currently authorized FA/CPR/AED Instructors must complete the
following by December 31, 2006 in order to teach the new program:
- Obtain and retain the First Aid/CPR/AED for the Workplace,
Schools and the Community Instructor’s Manual and CD-ROM or a
limited edition Instructor’s Kit, and appropriate participant’s
materials for the
courses you intend to teach.
- Complete one of the following:
online orientation, attend a group orientation, or complete a
self-orientation by reviewing the Update CD-ROM (available only
through the Chapter).
-
Return a completed orientation verification form to your chapter of
authorization. If you complete your update online, you should be
able to print this out. If you attend a group orientation, this
will be given to you. Once we receive your verification form, we
will submit a new instructor authorization certificate indicating
“Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED” Instructor. (This form is
very important! It lets us know that you completed your update.)
Once the
“new” FA/CPR/AED program is released, instructors can only teach the
“old” FA/CPR/AED program until September 1, 2006. Once updated,
authorized instructors will be able to teach all basic-level courses in
the Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Programs. This includes First
Aid/CPR/AED for the Workplace, First Aid/CPR/AED for Schools and the
Community, the current Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED, the current
First Aid-Responding to Emergencies, and the current Sport Safety
Training. When these latter programs are revised, instructors wishing
to teach them will have to purchase and review the new materials prior
to teaching.
