Become a Volunteer with the Piedmont Chapter

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, which provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Interested in volunteering for the American Red Cross? Take the following steps and you'll be on your way to helping your community and saving lives:

Step 1: Determine if the American Red Cross is a good fit for you by reviewing the Volunteer Assessment.

Step 2: Attend a New Volunteer Orientation. You can sign up online or by phone. At your Orientation you'll fill out a Volunteer Application and learn about all of our Volunteer Opportunities.

Step 3: After your Orientation, it's up to you to decide how you want to spend your volunteer time. You'll need to sign up for any relevant training within the department you choose.

Step 4:
Complete a background check. All Red Cross volunteers age 18 and older are required to successfully complete a background check before volunteering. This check verifies your Social Security Number and conducts a national criminal file search of the past 7 years. There is no credit check. You'll receive more information about this at your Orientation.

After completing the steps above, you are officially a Red Cross volunteer! If you have any questions, please contact our Volunteer Office at 864.583.8000.

Please note: We do not accept volunteers needing to complete hours for Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) or court-ordered community service.
